Go Lady Clara! (Another Proud Mommy Moment)
I experienced yet another "Proud Mommy Moment" today. Lady Clara participated in her first cheerleader event. Her and her team acted as hostesses and said some chants for the Back-2-School Breakfast for teachers and staff at her school. She showed such spirit and enthusiasm. it is so exciting to see her living out one of her middle school dreams -- and looking so cute while doing it. #GoLadyClara

I'm One Satisfied Shopping Solo Mommy!
I just left from New Kindling Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA, where my sis Natisha Simons Wilson and niecey-poo Keara Jashae were selling gently used items as a part of their church's flea market. I purchased two pair of heels (for me), sleeveless Coogi and army windbreakers (for me and Sir Isaac), party and formal dresses (for me and Lady Clara), a House of Deron dress (for me) and designer shirt (for Sir Isaac). Guess how much I paid for all that I bought? Just $15! Don't sleep on flea markets (especially one that's attached to a worthy cause). You might very well miss out on a blessing. Thanks for the invite family!

My Baby Earned Her Cheerleader Uniform!
This is a such a super happy moment for me as a mommy and former cheerleader (Norview Pilots). For her hard work, Lady Clara earned a cheerleader uniform. She is OFFICIAL! And, she will be cheering her school's football team onto V-I-C-T-O-R-Y beginning in September!
Lady Clara couldn't wait to try her uniform on when she got home either (but who could blame her?!). I guess she must have loved the perfect fit and cool colors so much that she fell asleep in her uniform. She looked so cute, too.
I am so happy for my baby. She has achieved one of her middle school goals. I'll be sure to post a photo of Lady Clara geared up at one of her football games. That, too, will be an exciting time.

Help Your Children to Write Their Vision and Make It Plain
Over the weekend, I had Lady Clara and Sir Isaac to write down their goals for the academic school year (2012-2013) which will be used to create their vision boards. Two of the goals that my daughter listed were: 1)To Create My Own Style and 2)To Do More Dancing and Acting. In addition to writing down what they wanted to accomplish, I told my children that they had to develop action steps to take. Lady Clara said one of the things she needed to do in order to do more dancing and acting was to take acting and dance classes and to audition for roles.
I'm happy to say that she's getting started on accomplishing her goals. Yesterday, she was supposed to be starting a web design class as part of her summer camp program. However, when I took her to the class, I was informed by the assist program director that the class was cancelled because it didn't have enough students enrolled. I was disappointed, but I inquired about a “Plan B.” It turns out that Lady Clara was able to take Fashion Design class. The funny thing is, the instructor of the class (Ms. Gail) was the one who had escorted me to find the assistant program director when I entered the third floor.
I talked to Ms. Gail about Lady Clara's goals and she said, "Well, she is in the right place." What's interesting is that she also runs a dance program. I was too excited and didn't count this encounter as a coincidence. It was fate.
I want to encourage you to spend time goal setting with your children. Then, take action of making your desires come true. When you write you vision and put in the work, it will become plain!
