Rise & Shine Mom... I'm Hungry!

Sir Isaac: Mom, can I have somthing to eat? Me: Sure son. What do you want? Sir Isaac: Oatmeal Me: Okay So, I go to boil the water and take out his bowl, favorite spoon and Quaker Oats Maple Browm Sugar instant oatmeal. Then something told me to check the time. Guess what the clock read? 3:47 am. So to anyone who is up (and not of their own free will), I say, "Good Morning!" I am WIDE AWAKE now. Sir Isaac, on the other hand, is back sleep. My how the tables so quickly turn. Gotta love it. Okay, let me get a head start on my Wonderful Wednesday (wink). Until I write you next, I'm just living the solo mommy life. Indulging in a Saturday Night Treat with My Sweet Daughter

A few months ago, I purchased the Chocolate Fondue Fountain by Everyday Chef at my fave thrift store. However, I never used it. That is, until tonight. Lady Clara and I decided that our dessert for this evening would be chocolate-covered strawberries. We melted two large Hershey candy bars in the frying pan along with a little vegetable oil, then poured it into the fondue machine and let it filter throughout. Finally, we dipped our strawberries into the smooth-flowing chocolate -- all to our taste bud's delight. We ate one strawberry after the other... after the other! We just couldn't help ourselves. The prep time takes maybe 10 minutes. But the satisfaction of creating a tasty treat together is timeless. Okay, back to eating I go! Until the next time I write you, I'm just living the solo mommy life. Love you, Feona Sharhran Huff. P.S. Yes, I'm Sleepy But My Creativity Won't Let Me Get Shut Eye!

After a very intense and activity-filled day, I am absolutely exhausted. Yet, I find myself still up on my trusty laptop "Betsy" to promote programs I'm producing, stay on the cusp of what's happening in social media and of course, blog. Each time I try to draw myself away from computer screen, I see yet another posting that reels me right back in. I need to be counting sheep right about now (oh, I really do!). I have a girl empowerment workshop that I'm attending in the morning with Lady Clara. Plus, I have a client's book to edit, a women's group lesson I have to prepare as I'm facilitating the discussion of Chapter One of the new book we're reading, paperwork to go through and lots of domestic stuff to do. The truth of the matter is that I don't want to go to bed. I am in a creative zone and I don't want to let it go (okay, I already know I'm going to pay for it later on in the day!). Good or bad, there is always a price you pay for your actions. I'm a big girl, so I will own up to the sleepiness I'm sure to experience. For now, I'm going to create until I can't create any more. Until the next time I write you, I'm just living the solo mommy life. Love you, Feona Sharhran Huff. P.S. I Will "BE THERE" For My Children!

How can you "be there" for your children? There are so many ways, including listening to them share what's on their mind, chaperoning on a school trip, volunteering for the PTA, etc. Being engaged in your child's life makes a huge differerence in how they perform in school, behave im public, interact with others, communicate, etc. Last night, I attended Lady Clara's Open School Night. You should have seen the pride just beaming from her pores as I visited each teacher's classroom to learn further about what goes on and how she is doing thus far. An even greater bond was formed and there was an appreciation for showing up for her. Though I had a busy day and was extremely tired, I was not going to miss an opportunity to show my support for my child. Please make it your priority to show up for your child. If you're in South Hampton Roads (VA) on September 29, 2012 from 11 to 1 pm, come out to my parent symposium and learn from other parents and experts on ways to "be there" for your child. The flier appears in this blog post for your convenience and information. Connect with me on Facebook under the group "Living the Solo Mommy Life" and on Twitter @ solomommy.
