Family Fun at Tomahawk Lake Waterpark

Today, me, Clara, and Isaac (who's a student at CDSC Head Start) attended his school's end-of-the-year trip to Tomahawk Lake Waterpark (http://www.tomahawklake.com) in Sparta, NJ. The 55-year-old man-made lake is inclusive of waterslides, large blow-up toys, boat rides, and a picnic area. When we arrived by luxury coach after only an hour and a half journey, we were ready to experience all that the day of family fun promised to offer.

Although Clara and Isaac (pictured left) patiently waited for the hamburgers, hotdogs, and barbeque chicken to be grilled, they were in a hurry to suit up in their swimming gear. The next thing I know, I'm knee deep in water with Isaac in my arms and Clara dog-paddling alongside us. Isaac's classmates, parents, teachers, and staff were also splish-splashing away as the sun beamed down on us -- making the cold water bearable:-)

After some time in el agua (Note: Isaac attends a bi-lingual school and is learning to speak Spanish -- muy bien!), we headed back to the picnic area and we got busy with the food. The men grilled (Note: A well-deserved thank-you must go out to Mr. Harrison -- the husband of the school's director, Miranda Harrison -- Teacher Lateefah's husband, and family worker Pam's husband). Isaac was completely content with his favorite (hot dogs). Clara and I ate cheeseburgers. It was mmm mmm good!

Once we left our tummies digest all that great food, we headed back to the lake. Clara continued on her water-playing excursion. Isaac opted to make castles in the sand. I, on the otherhand, took the opportunity to catch a nap (okay, two!) under the sun. Time flew by fast. Too fast. By the time I woke up (oh, and I had sand on my face, head, and legs -- thanks Isaac!), the team leaders were calling for us to pack up our stuff and head back to our meet-up spot.

It was such a beautiful day and I'm glad that my schedule permitted me to experience Tomahawk Lake Waterpark. Thank you Mervin for what you did! My children had a blast and we got in more bonding time. We took lots of photos and I became acquainted with a getaway spot that the family will be visiting next summer.
